In 1987 David was employed by the Northern Territory Department of Education to work as the Bi-Lingual Literature Production Supervisor at Areyonga, a Pitjantatjara Aboriginal community , 250 kms west of Alice Springs, in Central Australia. The Literature Production Unit was attached to the local school and was responsible for production of Pitjantatjara-English school resources for Aryeonga and Kaltukatjara (Docker River) 300 kms further west.

Resources were produced in consultation with the community elders and the school teachers taking into account cultural, religious and gender considerations. 

David was also the professional photographer for the first Aboriginal Rock Festival "Sing Loud Play Strong" in Darwin, the "Stompem Ground" Cultural Festival in Broome, WA, and worked for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission documenting the Barunga Festival in Katherine NT and indigenous community projects in the Pilbara, Kimberley, Central Australia and Torres Strait Islands.
