Lihir I Lamel (Lihir Today) is a collaborative community newspaper, distributed nationally each month in PNG by the stakeholders in the Lihir Gold Mine, Newcrest Mining Limited, Lihir Mining Area Landowners Association (LMALA), Nimamar Rural Local Level Government (NRLLG) and the New Ireland Provincial Government (NIPG).

The Lihir I Lamel newspaper is the key grassroots communication tool in the province and is the only one of it's kind in PNG. The paper is produced by the SD Media Team of the Sustainable Development Dept. of Newcrest Mining Limited's (NML) Lihir Gold Operations on behalf of the stakeholders. Stories and other contributions are provided by journalists from NRLLG, NIPG and NML. The paper is printed with funds from the Lihir Sustainable Development Plan (LSDP).

David was responsible for the production of the paper as Superintendent SD Media from 2008 to June 2013. The SD Media team built strong and respectful relationships with the stakeholders evidenced by the fact that there were no complaints from the stakeholders regarding the content or editorial direction of the paper.

The publication received a commendation from the Deputy Prime Minister of PNG as shown below. While the commendation is well earned it neglects to mention the significant contribution of the other key stakeholders from the NRLLG, the NIPG, LMALA and the LSDP.
